A desert fox is eating a peice of fruit by a rivers bank.
From nowhere a scorpion approaches him and stings him.
Startled, the fox retreats to lick his wounds, and the scorpion finishes the fruit.
One week later a forest fire begins to blaze over the island.
The desert fox is just about to swim across the river to the neighbouring island when he spots the scorpion again.
The fox bares his teeth, but the scorpion assures him he means no harm.
"I cannot swim, take me with you the next island and I will show you a grove so rich with fruit we need never fight nor grow hungry as long as we live"
The fox quickly deliberates among the chaos before accepting the scorpions bargain.
The scorpion climbs abourd the desert fox's back and he begins to swim across the river.
Half way across however, the scorpion stings the desert fox again, in his spine.
The feeling draining from his limbs, the fox begins to drown, as does the scorpion.
In his final moments the desert fox turns to the scorpion and says
"What about all the fruit ?"
To which the scorpion replies,
"There isn't any".
